Jurgen Klopp has appeared to suggest that he is not hopeful that Manchester United will be able to take points off Manchester City in Wednesday’s Premier League showdown.

The Red Devils head into the game looking to bounce back to winning ways after their damaging 4-0 loss to Everton in the top flight at Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon.

Liverpool FC, meanwhile, will be hoping that their bitter rivals can do them a favour to help them in the title race.

Klopp’s side are currently two points clear at the top of the Premier League table, but they have played one game more than Pep Guardiola’s defending champions.

Liverpool FC continued their fine form by claiming a 2-0 victory over Cardiff City on Sunday afternoon to reclaim the top spot.

Klopp has admitted that he will be watching the game, but has also seemed to suggest that he is not very hopeful of Manchester United getting anything from the game given their current form.

Klopp is quoted as saying by Metro: “I think I’ll be watching if there’s nothing else to do.

“Hopefully I can avoid that, we have no influence.

“It doesn’t look like at the moment that Man United can really…what was the result today? 3-0? 4-0? So we’ll see, City will be ready and we’ll see if United are ready as well.

“It’s a normal game, it’s a game they have to play, we played there and had a draw. But we play on Friday and that’s the game we have influence on.”

Liverpool FC, meanwhile, will return to Premier League action on Friday night when they take on Huddersfield Town at Anfield.

The Reds are aiming to try and win their first major trophy since Klopp’s appointment at Anfield back in October 2015.
