Jermaine Jenas states his prediction for Man United v Sevilla
Jermaine Jenas is fully expecting to see Manchester United beat Sevilla in the Champions League last 16
Jermaine Jenas is fully expecting to see Manchester United progress through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League by beating Sevilla.
The Red Devils were pitted against the Spanish side after the draw was made in Nyon on Monday and following Manchester United’s progression to the last 16 thanks to winning their group.
Jose Mourinho will be hoping for his side to progress well in Europe this season, with the Portuguese coach having led the Red Devils to Europa League glory last term.
Manchester United are still trying to keep themselves in the Premier League title race despite letting Manchester City move 11 points clear at the top of the table with victory in the derby on Saturday.
The Red Devils will clearly be the favourites to beat Sevilla and secure their place in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
And former midfielder Jenas is not expecting them to encounter any problems as they look to book their spot in the quarter-final draw.
Speaking to BT Sport after the draw was made on Monday, Jenas said: “Sevilla have got very good European pedigree, more so in the Europa League.
“Having watched them this year, this isn’t their strongest side that I’ve seen over the years at all.
“I think Man United will relish playing against them. They seem far more open at the back.
“Over a two-legged game, you’re a strong man to go against Mourinho, I really believe that. Because the way he plots out those two games, he’s done it over a number of years.
“I think it’s a tie they’ll go through from.”
Manchester United are preparing to return to Premier League action on Wednesday night when they host Bournemouth at Old Trafford looking to get back to winning ways in the top flight.
