David Moyes pleaded with Manchester United fans to be patient after the Red Devils were sent crashing to their second consecutive home defeat by Newcastle.
Yohan Cabaye fired home the only goal moments after Patrice Evra hit the post for the defending champions, following a swift counter-attack by the visitors at Old Trafford.

The defeat follows Wednesday’s surprise 1-0 loss to Everton and leaves Moyes’ men in ninth place in the table, 12 points behind leaders Arsenal.
But Moyes insists that it was always going to take time for him to adapt to life at Old Trafford after taking the reins from Sir Alex Ferguson in the summer.
“There will be [light at the end of the tunnel]. It is that transitional period and it was always going to be the case,” Moyes told BT Sport.
“We hoped it wouldn’t be quite as poor as it has been in the last few games, but I’m sure we’ll get it right.
“The United fans have been great. I think they understand that it is transition and that it’s the same players that were here last year as well.
“Obviously the manager’s changed, so we’ll work, try and improve and try and get better. When I came here I knew it wasn’t always going to be easy and it’s proven that way.
“I stand firm that we’ll be very close to the top and I hope that we’re up there when it comes to the end of the season.”
Moyes admitted that his side were lacking some creative flair in midfield as they tried to break down a stubborn Magpies side.
“I’m disappointed with the result,” he continued. “There were bits of the game where we needed a bit of luck to go for us and opportunities we should have taken a bit better, but in the end that didn’t happen.
“We’ve lacked a little bit of creativity at the right times. When we’ve had good chances to make passes we’ve not made them.
“We’ve lost the two games 1-0 and both probably slightly against the run of play. But it has happened and we have to expect that here.
“We have to create more chances, create more opportunities and play better- that’s the way to do it.”
