Man United 1 Real Sociedad 0: Rooney hails Moyes impact
Man United 1 Real Sociedad 0: Wayne Rooney says he has been given a "new lease of life" under David Moyes after victory
Wayne Rooney declared that he has been given a “new lease of life” under David Moyes after Manchester United overcame Real Sociedad in the Champions League.
Inigo Martinez’s second-minute own goal – which came after some superb work by Rooney – ended up being the difference between the two sides despite the Red Devils largely dominating proceedings at Old Trafford.
The victory keeps United top of Group A on seven points, one point clear of Bayer Leverkusen.
And Rooney admits that he is thoroughly enjoying playing under new boss Moyes this term, despite a stuttering start to United’s title defence.
“The new coaches that have come have given me a new lease of life,” Rooney told Sky Sports.
“I’m really enjoying working with David Moyes and his staff. We’re working to try and be successful as a team.
“We’ve got a lot of hungry players and players who are fighting for places. The results haven’t been what we wanted and that’s what we’re working to put right.
“I feel good, I feel fit, I’m enjoying my football. Hopefully I can score more goals, keep playing and keep trying to be successful.”
