Man United 1 Tottenham 2: David Moyes insists he was pleased with his side's performance despite defeat
David Moyes insisted that he was delighted with Manchester United’s performance despite their defeat by Tottenham at Old Trafford.
The home side started brightly but Emmanuel Adebayor gave Spurs the lead in the 34th minute when he headed home Christian Eriksen’s cross.

Denmark international Eriksen then doubled the visitors’ advantage after half-time with a close-range header, before Danny Welbeck pulled one back for the Red Devils later.
The loss – United’s sixth of the season in the top flight – leaves Moyes’ men 11 points behind leaders Arsenal and down in seventh place.
But the Scot insisted that he was pleased with his side’s display.
“The performance was really good,” Moyes told BT Sport. “I thought we defended really well but got done by a couple of counter-attacks today.
“The boys played well, but we couldn’t take the opportunities when they came along.
“Their effort was terrific in trying to come back from 2-0 down. We didn’t deserve to be behind. We’ll keep trying to win the next game, that’s all you can do. We’re not necessarily looking at the league table.”
Moyes also vented his frustration at referee Howard Webb’s decision not to award a penalty when Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris appeared to collide with Ashley Young in the box in the second half.
“It was a stonewall penalty kick and sending off for the goalkeeper,” he said. “I find it unbelievable that the referee doesn’t give a penalty kick and a sending off.
“Then he goes and books Adnan Januzai for diving. I find it incredible.
“People who employ referees are going to have to look at that. Today we played well. We’re not asking for anything, we’re asking for the right thing. I don’t know what’s a penalty kick if that’s not.”
