Patrice Evra has claimed that even a three-year-old Manchester United fan would be hurting by the Red Devils’s recent performances.

The United left-back made the claim as he spoke to the media ahead of their clash against Olympiacos in the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie.

Even a three-year-old Manchester United fan would be hurting by our performance, but in life you have a second chance and we will have one tomorrow night

The Greek champions hold a 2-0 aggregate lead after a memorable night in Athens three weeks ago which saw Alejandro Dominguez and Joel Campbell beat David De Gea.

United take on Olympiacos fresh from a 3-0 loss to bitter rivals Liverpool on Sunday, and United vice-captain Evra admitted the Red Devils aren’t used to losing.

“When you win, you win together and when you lose, you lose together,” Evra said.

“It’s been a difficult season for everyone because we’re not used to losing. We know we had a bad game in the first leg.

“Even a three-year-old Manchester United fan would be hurting by our performance, but in life you have a second chance and we will have one tomorrow night. We will fight and make sure all the fans will be proud of us after the game.”

Man United v Olympiacos: Pre-match facts

• United have a 100% home record in the Champions League, having beaten Bayer 04 Leverkusen, Real Sociedad and Shakhtar Donetsk. Another victory would spell their best sequence in the competition at Old Trafford since 2007/08, when they went on to win the competition.

• United have mounted a successful fightback only once after a first-leg defeat in the Champions League. That came when they overwhelmed Roma 7-1 after a 2-1 reverse in Italy in the 2006/07 quarter-finals.

• Shinji Kagawa’s Borussia Dortmund beat Olympiacos 3-1 at home but lost 1-0 away in the 2011-12 group stage.

• United have scored 548 goals in Uefa competition and conceded 299.
