Man United confirm Adidas as new kit supplier in £750m deal
Adidas will be Manchester United's new kit supplier from the 2015-16 season in a deal worth £750m
Adidas has confirmed that it will be Manchester United’s new kit supplier from the 2015-16 season in a deal worth £750m.
The 10-year agreement will begin next year after Nike announced that it would not be extending its 12-year partnership as United’s technical sponsor and trademark licensee.
The Premier League club is expected to receive around £70m a year during the partnership with the German sportswear giant.
“We are excited to team up with Manchester United, one of the most successful and most loved football clubs globally,” said Adidas chief executive Herbert Hainer in a statement.
“Our new partnership with Manchester United clearly underlines our leadership in football and will help us to further strengthen our position in key markets around the world.
“At the same time, this collaboration marks a milestone for us when it comes to merchandising potential.”
A statement posted on Manchester United’s website read: “Manchester United plc has reached a 10-year agreement with Adidas for a global technical sponsorship and dual branded licensing deal for a minimum guarantee of £750m, subject to certain adjustments, beginning with the 2015-2016 campaign.
“For the 2014-2015 season, Nike will continue in its role of technical sponsor and trademark licensee.”
The news comes after Manchester United unveiled their new home kit for the 2014-15 season.
