Javier Hernández admits he has been frustrated by his limited first-team opportunities at Manchester United this season.

The Mexico international has found himself behind Wayne Rooney, Robin van Persie and Danny Welbeck in the pecking order at Old Trafford.

Hernández, who impressed in his first two seasons at the Red Devils, has been linked with a move to Real Madrid, while Sir Alex Ferguson is reported to be considering a swoop for Atletico Madrid’s Radamel Falcao.

And while the 24-year-old was keen to emphasise his love for United, the South American would prefer to start more games for the Red Devils, who are 15 points clear at the top of the Premier League.

“It is frustrating. All the players in the world want to start every single game, every week. Of course any player wants that,” said Hernández.

“I’m happy to be at this club but I’d love more games. My attitude is that even when the gaffer wants me to be on the bench I’m going to do my best.

“I have to respect the club, Manchester United. But of course I would to start more.”

Hernández has scored eight Premier League goals in just seven starts this term, the Mexican’s lowest return for a campaign since joining the Red Devils in 2010.
