Man United transfers: ‘Cesc Fàbregas wants to stay at Barça’
Man United transfers: Barcelona manager Tito Vilanova says the club's midfielder Cesc Fàbregas wants to stay at the club
Tito Vilanova says Manchester United target Cesc Fàbregas wants to stay at Barcelona beyond the summer.
The Spain international has been the subject of a number of bids, with the Reds Devils believed to be leading the race to sign the midfielder, after an indifferent spell at the Catalan side.
Despite talk of the former Arsenal captain leaving Camp Nou, Fàbregas still managed to score 11 goals and make 11 assists in 32 appearances as his club won the La Liga crown last term.
And Tito Vilanova revealed he has spoken with Fàbregas and the former Gunners star told the Barcelona manager that he wants to stay and be a success at Barça.
“There have been offers for him from other clubs, but I spoke with Cesc and he told me that he was still determined to stay here and be successful, so I’m not worried.
“He doesn’t want to go to other teams for money reasons or playing time. He knows there is competition for places here, but his decision is to stay. I am relaxed about the situation.
“It is a good sign that the club gets offers for our players. It shows we have players other teams want. But Fàbregas wants to stay.”
Fàbregas has scored 29 goals and made 32 assists in 96 appearances for Barcelona after completing a £35m move to Camp Nou from Arsenal in 2011.
