Man United transfers: ‘Cesc Fàbregas would greatly improve Red Devils’
Man United transfers: Red Devils goalkeeper David De Gea believes Barcelona's Cesc Fàbregas would 'greatly improve' the club
David De Gea believes Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fàbregas would “greatly improve” Manchester United.
The Red Devils have made two bids for the Spain international but the La Liga champions are remaining firm in their stance that the midfielder is not for sale this summer.
However, United goalkeeper De Gea is still holding out hope that the former Arsenal captain may decide to join the reigning Premier League champions after moving to Camp Nou in 2011.
“He will have to make the decision whether he wants to stay or join us,” De Gea said. “It would be a very good signing and he would help us improve greatly.”
Earlier this week, Barcelona midfielder Javier Mascherano also insisted that Fàbregas was happy at the La Liga champions and had no desire to leave his boyhood club.
“I didn’t talk to him but I think he is happy,” Mascherano told Sky Sports News.
“It is difficult when you have to speak about the personal situation of other players because sometimes you don’t know what they think.
“I see him here training and he is happy. He grew up in Barcelona and feels the call of the shirt.
“It is difficult when you grow up here to leave because Barcelona is a big team, a big city, really nice to live in and all his family is here.
“I think he is a really key player for us and I think the coach and the people who work here want to keep him.”
