Man United transfers: Edinson Cavani says he is very happy at Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain despite interest from England

Manchester United have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Edinson Cavani after the striker declared that his preference is to stay at Paris Saint-Germain.
The Uruguayan has long been touted as a possible target for the Red Devils, speculation which has heightened after executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward revealed that United have significant funds at their disposal this summer.

PSG removed Cavani from their advertising campaign earlier this week, prompting reports that the 20-time English champions were on the verge of landing the 27-year-old forward in a big-money deal.
However, Cavani, who moved to PSG from Napoli last summer, is determined to honour his contract at the Ligue 1 champions despite the summer of speculation surrounding his future.
“I’m certain that I’ll stay – why wouldn’t I?” Cavani told L’Equipe.
“I feel very good in Paris, I have a contract to respect at PSG. I’d prefer to be here. I feel good here.
“Like I’ve already said, that doesn’t depend solely on the position of a player but also things that can happen at the club.”
The former Palermo striker scored 16 goals in 30 Ligue 1 appearances during PSG’s title-winning campaign.
