Gareth Bale has dealt Manchester United a blow in their bid to sign the Wales international after he hinted at his Real Madrid future on Twitter.

The 25-year-old has been linked with a potential switch to the 13-time Premier League champions after a mixed second season at The Bernabeu.

Bale, who joined in a £85.3m deal in 2013, was on the receiving end of abuse from Madrid supporters at various points throughout the 2014/15 campaign.

But the Welshman is focused on next season after the midfielder spoke of his excitement to link up with his new Madrid team-mates in pre-season.

The 25-year-old Bale has received criticism for a string of below-par displays during his second season at Real Madrid.

However, the midfielder still managed to score 13 goals and make nine assists in 31 La Liga games for Carlo Ancelotti’s men.

Bale moved to Madrid in a world-record £85.3m deal from Tottenham Hotspur in July 2013.
