Man United transfers: Paris Saint-Germain boss Laurent Blanc plays down reports suggesting Edinson Cavani could leave

Laurent Blanc has played down speculation linking Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani with a move to Manchester United.
The Red Devils manager is expected to strengthen his squad during the January transfer window after a dismal start to the season, with United close to completing a £37m deal to sign Juan Mata from Chelsea.

Cavani has scored 17 goals in 24 games in all competitions for the Ligue 1 champions this term after sealing a £55m move to the Parisian club from Napoli in the summer.
United had been linked with a surprise swoop for the Uruguay international over the past week, but PSG boss Blanc insisted it would be “almost impossible” to sign one of the club’s key players this month.
“You cannot prevent that some club is interested in PSG players, as we are interested in many players, but today, it is almost impossible to take a major PSG player during the winter market,” Blanc said.
Cavani scored 104 goals in 138 appearances for Napoli before leaving the Serie A outfit in 2013.
