Man United transfers: Sir Alex Ferguson hints at signing ‘top player’
Man United transfers: Sir Alex Ferguson insists he would have no reservations about moving to sign a "top player" this summer

Sir Alex Ferguson insists he would have no reservations about moving to sign a “top player” this summer despite Manchester United’s impressive league title triumph.
The Red Devils parted with £24m to lure Robin van Persie to Old Trafford from Arsenal last summer and the Dutch striker has hit the ground running with a return of 25 league goals.
And Ferguson says he would be ready to spend big again in the forthcoming transfer window, with Robert Lewandowski and Radamel Falcao among the names linked with a move to the champions.
“We may go for a top player,” said Ferguson, whose side won the Premier League crown with four games to spare. “That’s possible. We’ve got a nucleus of young players but we may spend something, you know.
“I think with top players it doesn’t matter what position they play in. I think if I get a top player in, it adds to the team and it improves it.
“Last season, we had Chicharito, Danny Welbeck and Wayne Rooney but still went for Van Persie. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that.
“We won the league because we had a strong squad in terms of numbers and I think we should add to it.”
