Sir Alex Ferguson has rubbished talk of Wayne Rooney swapping Manchester United for Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season.

The England international’s future has been the source of constant speculation throughout the campaign, having struggled to reach the heights of previous years.

Earlier this week, a former PSG advisor, Michel Moulin, claimed the Ligue 1 leaders had already agreed a deal to sign the 27-year-old in the summer, with United reportedly preparing an offer for Atletico Madrid’s Radamel Falcao.

But when Ferguson was questioned about PSG’s interest at a news conference on Friday, he replied: “I don’t think there is anything in that at all.”

The United manager also rubbished talk of a fallout between Rooney and the Scot after Ferguson substituted the striker with 20 minutes remaining at Upton Park on Wednesday night.

“I couldn’t tell you about that [Rooney receiving a new United contract],” he added. “But, as far as taking him off the other night, it was simple, he wasn’t playing as well as Shinji Kagawa was.

“In so many games, Wayne Rooney is better than most players. But, on the night, Shinji was playing so well.”

Ferguson also expects to have a fully fit squad to choose from for United’s clash against strugglers Aston Villa at Old Trafford on Monday night.

“There are a few bumps and bruises from West Ham on Wednesday, Nemanja Vidic has a beautiful bruise on his cheek bone,” he said.

“I am quite happy to get out of that war zone without a serious injury.”
