Man United’s Javier Hernández: I enjoy assisting as much as scoring

Javier Hernández insists he takes as much pleasure in setting up a goal than bagging a strike of his own for Manchester United.

The Mexico striker has found his first-team opportunities severely limited under David Moyes this season and has started just three games in all competitions.

However, the 25-year-old has still managed to net four goals in seven games for the Red Devils.

And despite being widely recognised as a clinical goal-scorer, Hernández says that it is just as important for him to set up his team-mates.

“I enjoy making a good pass or giving an assist,” Hernández told United’s website.

“You have to enjoy those things as much as scoring goals. I never play just to score, I’m not upset if I haven’t scored in a couple of games.

“I don’t think, ‘I have to score in the next one’, because I know football can go like that sometimes.

“As long as the team is winning, that’s the most important thing. It’s part of our job as strikers to score goals, but I train and play the game to enjoy every pass, shot, movement, assist and goal.”

The forward added: “I try to experience all the things that football can give you in the same way.”
