Man United’s Moyes: Rooney and Van Persie can fire us to glory

David Moyes says Manchester United pair Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie can fire the Red Devils to glory this season.

The United strikers were both on target in a 3-1 victory over Fulham at Craven Cottage in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Red Devils have made a slow start to the season but Rooney and Van Persie appear to finding form and forming a deadly partnership.

And Moyes heaped praise on the England international and former Arsenal captain ahead of United’s Champions League clash against Real Sociedad.

“I thought there were real signs of great combination between them and they made the goals for each other,” Moyes told reporters.

“There was good link-up play and I just started to see really good signs from the two of them.

“It was great they both got on the scoresheet because that is what forwards do and I have always said you need these boys to get a hat-load of goals if you are to be successful. They are both incredibly talented and understand each other and the talents they both bring with them.”
