Joe Hart and Man City can do better, admits Manuel Pellegrini
Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini refuses to single out Joe Hart for criticism after a 3-1 loss to Bayern Munich
Manuel Pellegrini admits Manchester City as a whole – and not just Joe Hart – can do better after a 3-1 loss to Bayern Munich.
The England number one was heavily criticised after the 26-year-old was beaten at his near post by both Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben at Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night.
Hart has been coming under increasing pressure following a string of errors over the past 18 months, but Pellegrini refused to single out the City shot stopper following their Group D loss.
“Of course I am worried about the mistakes,” Pellegrini said.
“[But] the three goals, I think we can do better, not only the goalkeeper.”
Micah Richards also struggled to perform coming up against France international Ribery as he made his first Champions League start of the season.
However, City manager Pellegrini felt Ribery’s performance wasn’t the decisive factor in the game despite admitting Richards struggled along with the Citizens other defenders.
“I don’t think Ribery was the key factor to win the game.
“I don’t think Micah Richards has the responsibility – the same as all the other players, but I don’t think he has any special problems.”
