David Beckham has completed a move to Paris Saint-Germain on a five-month deal, with the England legend revealing his salary will go to charity.

The 37-year-old midfielder has decided to give his wages to an, as yet, undecided Paris children’s charity, conceding the amount has not been confirmed either, but suggested it would be “a very good figure”.

The deal – finalised at 1am on Thursday morning – will see the veteran midfielder move to the sixth club of his career.

“I won’t receive any salary, we have decided my salary will go towards a local children’s charity in Paris and that is one of the things we are very excited and proud to do,” he said.

“I am very lucky to have earned what I have earned throughout my career.”

Beckham says he will not be involved in Friday’s Ligue 1 clash against Toulouse as he looks to regain his match fitness, having last played on 2 December for former club LA Galaxy.

Speculation has been rife surrounding Beckham’s next move since he ended his five-and-half year stay in America in December.

And the former England captain revealed he had received more offers than in the whole of his 20-year career, but chose the French capital because of PSG’s ambition.

“I chose Paris because I can see what the club is trying to do now there is a club that’s going to have a lot of success,” he said, adding: “Every club I have played for throughout the world I have been successful with. I always said I’d never play for another PL club”

“I didn’t want to play there (in the Premier League) unless it was for Manchester United.”
