Mario Balotelli could be world beater if he works hard, says Liverpool legend
Liverpool legend John Aldridge stresses that Mario Balotelli must work hard to prove a success at Anfield
John Aldridge has warned Mario Balotelli that he must work very hard if the striker wants to become a Liverpool legend.
The Italy international could make his Anfield debut on Saturday in the absence of injured Daniel Sturridge as Brendan Rodgers’s side face Aston Villa.
We’ve seen Mario, now and again, mope around and he just can’t do that
Balotelli impressed on his Liverpool debut at White Hart Lane despite failing to get on the score sheet in a 3-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur.
And Liverpool legend Aldridge believes the 24-year-old can be a world beater if his attitude is right.
“We all know the lad can be quality but he has to buy into the Brendan Rodgers work ethic because Liverpool are a team that work extremely hard for each other,” Aldridge told talkSPORT.
“If one player doesn’t do that it can hurt all 11 players. Against Tottenham he did put a shift in but he’s got to do that consistently.
“We’ve seen Mario, now and again, mope around and he just can’t do that. If he works very, very hard for Liverpool he could be so endeared by the fans and I’m not being biased.
“They love goalscorers at Anfield and he could be a world beater and a legend.”
