Arsenal told to sign 18-year-old starlet this summer
Emmanuel Petit urges Arsenal to make a transfer swoop to sign Kylian Mbappe from Monaco this summer
Emmanuel Petit has urged Arsenal to make a transfer swoop to sign Kylian Mbappe from Monaco this summer.
The Gunners have been linked with a host of players this summer but have thus far only confirmed the signing of left-back Sead Kolasinac from Schalke on a free transfer.
There have been reports in the media in recent days that Arsenal have already had a bid for Mbappe turned down by Monaco.
Arsene Wenger will be keen to bolster his attacking options at The Emirates as the Frenchman prepares his side to try and challenge for the title next season.
And former Gunners midfielder would love to see Arsenal bring 18-year-old striker Mbappe to north London this summer.
Speaking to talkSPORT, as quoted by Metro, Petit said: “Mbappe is the leader of this generation.
“I would love it (for him to join Arsenal). I remember two years ago we had almost the same example as Martial.
“Martial was very good the first months with Manchester United and since Mourinho has managed the team he’s not in the same position anymore. It’s a risk.
“Talent is something very important in football but you need to have confidence as well from team-mates and your manager.
“You have to be tough and strong in your mind.”
Arsenal are preparing for a season without Champions League football next term after the Gunners missed out on a top-four finish.
The north London side did manage to finish the season on a high, however, by beating Chelsea to win the FA Cup at Wembley last month.
