Mesut Ozil reveals his ideal target with Arsenal

Mesut Ozil has insisted that his top target is to win the Champions League with Arsenal next season.

The Gunners are still dusting themselves down after their 10-2 aggregate thrashing at the hands of Bayern Munich in the last 16 of Europe’s elite club competition last week.

Arsenal have endured a difficult start to the year and still have work to do in order to secure qualification for next season’s Champions League, with Arsene Wenger’s men currently fifth in the table.

Ozil’s future remains a source of speculation this season, with his current deal set to expire in the summer of 2018.

However, the German World Cup winner has revealed his desire to help Arsenal try and win the Champions League for the first time next season.

Speaking to German newspaper Bild, Ozil said: “As a sportsman, you are never satisfied.

“You need this motivation. I would very much like to win the Champions League one day, ideally with Arsenal. I still have a year left on my contract here.”

Arsenal are currently gearing up for their Premier League clash against West Bromwich Albion at The Emirates on Saturday lunchtime as they look to get their top-four bid back on track.
