Mesut Ozil signing has lifted Arsenal, says Marouane Chamakh

Marouane Chamakh believes that Arsenal’s signing of Mesut Ozil has been one of the key factors behind the Gunners’ success so far this season.

The north London side are currently second in the Premier League table after an impressive start to the season following Ozil’s arrival from Real Madrid in a club-record deal in September.

And Chamakh, who joined Crystal Palace last summer after three years at Arsenal, believes that the arrival of the Germany international gave his former club a timely boost.

“The singing of Mesut Ozil was very good for Arsenal,” Chamakh told Crystal Palace’s website ahead of the Eagles’ trip to Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

“They are in a season of transition, as a lot of clubs are, but they want to prove themselves and do something good this season.

“That’s shown in their recent run. Even if they aren’t playing well they are still winning matches consecutively.

“Their mental attitude has been a big factor this season and they believe they can win things.”
