Mesut Ozil’s worrying response for Arsenal when asked about Madrid manager
Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil talks up Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane
Mesut Ozil has prompted fears the midfielder could leave Arsenal after the Germany star admitted that he would love to play under Zinedine Zidane.
The former France captain is currently in charge of Ozil’s former club Real Madrid and Los Blancos are on the brink of winning their second Champions League crown since the midfielder’s departure in 2013.
The 26-year-old playmaker has won two FA Cups since his club-record £42.5m switch to Arsenal from Madrid almost three years ago but the Premier League title continues to elude the World Cup winner.
Ozil has been linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium in recent months, with just over 12 months remaining on the Germany international’s current Arsenal contract.
And the Arsenal star gave current Madrid manager a glowing review when asked about his thoughts on his former coach.
“I get along very well with him, both as an individual and as a manager,” Ozil told French magazine Surface.
“But in football you do not know what tomorrow will bring, everything is possible. You never know what will happen.”
Ozil was named the Arsenal player of the year after a return of six goals and 18 assists in this season’s Premier League.
