Michael Carrick is already looking forward to next season and helping Manchester United challenge for their 21st top-flight title.

The Red Devils won the Premier League with four games to spare this season and will lift the trophy in front of their own fans following their clash against Swansea at Old Trafford on Sunday.

And midfielder Carrick, who was nominated for the PFA player of the year award, says that the celebrations will only fuel the Red Devils’ desire to win it again.

“It gives you the belief to go on and the drive to win it again,” Carrick told United’s website. “You have the satisfaction of finishing on top, then a day of lifting the trophy and celebrating.

“Once you experience that, you want it more, so I’m sure those who have won it for the first time will come back next season hungry again.”

Carrick added: “It was a special night when we got it done and everyone’s now looking forward to getting our hands on the trophy, especially at home.

“We’re all excited about it and there will be a great build-up, so it’ll be a memorable day.”
