Michael Carrick: Ryan Giggs a natural as Man United manager
Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick says Ryan Giggs has been terrific since taking over
Michael Carrick says Ryan Giggs has “naturally” made the transition from player to Manchester United manager.
The 40-year-old winger led the Red Devils to a 4-0 victory over Norwich City at Old Trafford in his first game in charge after replacing David Moyes on an interim basis.
He’s been terrific since he took over
Netherlands head coach Louis van Gaal and Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti are the leading contenders to replace the Scot on a permanent basis in the summer.
United midfielder Carrick, who has won five Premier League titles with the club, revealed the squad are enjoying working under Red Devils legend Giggs.
“It’s not an easy thing stepping up from the dressing room like that. It speaks volumes for the respect he’s got that there’s not been much banter, he’s not taken any stick,” Carrick told the Daily Telegraph.
“He’s just naturally made that transition. There’s such respect for him within the squad, we’re trying to make it as easy as possible for him. And it’s gone great so far. He’s been terrific since he took over.”
