Manchester United’s Michael Owen suffers injury setback

Manchester United striker Michael Owen will be out of action for around month after suffering a hamstring injury in training.
Owen, who has been absent in recent weeks with a groin strain, had been expected to make a return against Wolves in the Carling Cup on Tuesday night but missed out after he was hurt in training.
The former Liverpool striker has struggled to secure a regular starting spot in Sir Alex Ferguson’s side since moving to Old Trafford in 2009 and a hamstring strain picked up in March’s Carling Cup final ruled the 30-year-old out for the remainder of the last campaign.
“It’s not going great,” said Owen. “I had a bit of a tight groin a while ago and I’ve trained for a week preparing for last night’s game but then I had a setback with a different muscle injury.
“Unfortunately, that ruled me out for last night and will rule me out for a few weeks as well.
He added: “I got injured in the cup final and then subsequently this season I was in the squad for the first 10 games or so.”
“But unfortunately, because of a training ground injury the other day, I’m going to be out for the next few weeks, which is disappointing.
“It’s all part and parcel of football. Everyone gets injured. Hopefully, I can come back and be as strong as ever.”
Owen has made four Premier League appearances for United this season.
