Real Madrid have told Manchester United that they must pay £79m if they want to sign striker Alvaro Morata this summer, according to reports in Spain.

Spanish newspaper Marca, as quoted by the Daily Express, is reporting that the Champions League holders are remaining steadfast in their valuation of the 24-year-old forward.

The same report claims that Manchester United are willing to pay around £61m (€70m) for Morata but Real Madrid want a fee closer to £79m (€90m).

The story says that Real Madrid are in no hurry to sell Morata and will only do so once their asking price is met.

The article reports that Morata has already agreed personal terms with Manchester United but the Premier League club are yet to settle on a fee with Real Madrid.

Morata’s proposed transfer to Manchester United has been one of the longest-running sagas of the summer and Red Devils fans will be hoping that their club can tie up a deal for the Spain international before Jose Mourinho’s men jet off to the United States for their pre-season tour of the United States later this month.
