John Terry could be fit for Chelsea’s crunch Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid on Wednesday, Jose Mourinho revealed after his side’s 2-0 win at Liverpool.

Mourinho had initially suggested that the veteran centre-half was likely to miss the rest of the season with the problem, but the Portuguese coach confirmed that the Blues will continue to monitor their captain’s fitness in the build-up to the return leg at Stamford Bridge.
“He has a chance for Wednesday’s game,” said Mourinho of Terry. “Let’s see tomorrow and after tomorrow.
“After the last match against Atletico I thought no chance, in this moment I say maybe.”
Mourinho also explained his decision to start Mark Schwarzer in goal ahead of Hilario following Petr Cech’s season-ending injury.
“He [Schwarzer] was good – very solid and very experienced. When Liverpool started putting long balls in the area for Mark and Cahill and Ivanovic they were like fish in water. It was easy for them.
“He made not a lot but a couple of important, difficult saves. Good for him.
“We made a decision for him to play, not Hilario, because he needs to play. He’s had a season playing just a few matches. He needed to play and this was a big game for him so it was good for his confidence.”
