Mourinho gives latest Chelsea injury update ahead of West Brom trip
John Terry will miss Chelsea's clash at West Brom, but striker Fernando Torres is back available, Jose Mourinho confirms
John Terry will miss Chelsea’s clash against West Bromwich Albion on Tuesday due to injury but Fernando Torres is back available for selection, Jose Mourinho has revealed.
The Chelsea captain sat out Saturday’s 3-0 victory over Newcastle United with a minor niggle and is expected to return to action next weekend.
More than mathematically, all of the top four can win the title
Striker Torres is back available for selection after a spell on the sidelines with a knee problem.
“John Terry is still out. Fernando is back and available for selection,” Mourinho said on Monday. “I expect him [Terry] to play next weekend.”
Chelsea head to The Hawthorns on Tuesday looking to secure a victory to keep their place at the top of the Premier League table.
But Mourinho once again played down his side’s hopes of winning the title this season, despite the Blues’ one-point lead over second-placed Arsenal.
“I like to be top of the league – everybody does – and of course we are going fight to try and stay there,” said Mourinho.
“But to say something about the end of the season is very difficult because there are six points between first and fourth.
“Six points are two matches and when you have 13 to play it’s nothing, so more than mathematically, all of the top four can win the title.
“Independent of the mathematics, I still think that other teams are in better conditions than us.”
