Mousa Dembele believes it is important that Tottenham Hotspur continue to win despite struggling to produce their best performances.

Spurs currently lead the chasing pack for a top-four finish after Roberto Soldado scored the north London’s winner in a 1-0 victory over Cardiff City on Sunday.

Tim Sherwood’s men are currently four points behind fourth-placed Manchester City, although Manuel Pellegrini’s side have two games in hand on Spurs.

And Belgium international Dembele praised Spurs for staying positive despite struggling to break down Cardiff’s rugged rearguard at White Hart Lane.

“We didn’t play that well but the most important thing is that we won the game and we stay positive,” Dembele told Tottenham’s website.

“We could have won by more but Cardiff are a good team and they fought hard. They made it difficult for us.

“We’ve had a lot of games lately and if you can win matches when you aren’t playing well, that’s a good sign. We were all determined to win this game.”
