Moyes gives latest Man United injury update after Stoke loss
David Moyes confirms Phil Jones suffered concussion during Manchester United's loss to Stoke City
David Moyes has confirmed that Phil Jones suffered concussion during Manchester United’s defeat at Stoke City and that a scan revealed no further problems.
Jones was forced off after picking up a head injury in a clash with Jon Walters during the first half at the Britannia Stadium.
Fellow defender Jonny Evans, meanwhile, was substituted in just the 11th minute after picking up a calf problem.
“Phil Jones had concussion but he is OK thankfully. He has had a head scan and there are no problems,” Moyes told BBC Sport.
“You could see it was fierce clash but completely accidental on both players’ behalf. Phil hit the ground with his head and that was probably it – you can tell sometimes when they are not right.”
Saturday’s defeat – their eighth of the season – left United 13 points behind Premier League leaders Manchester City, who host Chelsea on Monday.
And Moyes continued: “I don’t know what we have to do to win.
“I thought we were extremely unlucky. We played well in difficult conditions but we have lost to one wicked deflection and one worldy.
“But we should have been out of sight with the amount of opportunities we had today and we only have ourselves to blame.”
