David Moyes has revealed that Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney will be assessed in the hours before their clash against Tottenham Hotspur on New Year’s Day.
The 28-year-old England striker was forced to sit out their 1-0 victory over Norwich City at Carrow Road on Saturday due to a groin injury.

And Moyes confirmed that Rooney, who has scored nine Premier League goals this season, didn’t train on New Year’s Eve but could still face Spurs.
“We need to wait and see,” Moyes told a pre-match media conference. “He didn’t train today so we’ll assess him tomorrow and see how he is.”
Moyes also confirmed that Netherlands international Robin van Persie won’t be fit in time for the clash against the north London side on Wednesday.
“Van Persie is not quite ready yet, but hopefully he’s not too far away,” Moyes added.
Moyes warned the defending Premier League champions that they face a difficult test against Tottenham despite their recent managerial change.
“Tottenham have always been difficult opponents no matter who the manager has been,” Moyes added.
“They have a really good side, spend well and always try to reward the manager with the players required. Tottenham have either been in the Champions League or pushing for it and have always been a good, strong team.”
