Moyes: Man United’s Rooney & Van Persie better than Liverpool’s SAS
David Moyes believes Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie are a better partnership than Liverpool's SAS double act
David Moyes believes Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie are a better partnership than Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez.
The Liverpool double act have widely been acclaimed as the Premier League’s most deadly twosome after the pair scored a combined 10 top-flight goals since the Uruguayan’s return from a 10-game ban.
Rooney has made a bright start to the season, whilst Van Persie continues to improve after a recent dip, and Moyes feels the United forwards are still the best in the world when at their lethal best.
“Wayne and Robin, on their day, will be a match for any players in the world, never mind just in this country,” Moyes said. “So when those two are firing, they are the best.
“They’re incredibly talented, both natural goalscorers and both can play in several positions.”
Moyes reckons United’s key players are starting to find their best form after a 3-2 victory over Stoke City at Old Trafford last weekend.
“I do see signs that the players are beginning to find a little bit of form,’ said Moyes.
“I’ve seen it even in the game last week. It was proof that it’s there, that they have got that capability and we might have to do it a few more times before the end of the season.
“We’re not at the level of consistency we’d like to be at but we’re striving to find that and there are maybe signs that it’s coming back.
“We’ve played well in a couple of games but had to chase things for different reasons.”
