Loic Remy insists he has no regrets about turning down the chance to join Newcastle back in January and opting to move to QPR.

The French striker, who moved to St James’ Park on a season-long loan following the Hoops’ relegation from the Premier League, scored both goals as the Magpies ran out 2-1 winners at Cardiff City on Saturday.

But the 26-year-old says he is not thinking about his future beyond the end of this season.

“For the moment the question is not in my head,” said Remy.

“We have time and I will go game by game. It is a good question but right now I am not focused on that.

“I don’t regret not joining in January. I decided to join QPR in January, but it was a choice [to join Newcastle] after QPR went down.

“I was happy to see Newcastle come back to me so now it is down to me to do the best I can for the club because they came back for me.”

Remy’s comments come after QPR boss Harry Redknapp said that he was planning for life without the striker at Loftus Road.

“Remy wanted to go to Newcastle, so good luck to him. I hope he does well,” said Redknapp.

“He’s not in my thoughts. I only want people who are here and want to be here, that’s all I’m concerned with.

“All those who’ve gone on loan, good luck to them. I hope they do well, stay where they are and get a contract there.”
