Ole Gunnar Solskjaer delivers the latest update on Paul Pogba's fitness ahead of Man United v Newcastle United
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that Paul Pogba is likely to miss Manchester United’s trip to Newcastle United on Sunday due to an ankle injury.
Pogba has been struggling with an ankle injury in recent days and he sat out Manchester United’s goalless draw with AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League on Thursday night.
The French midfielder has been a regular fixture in the Manchester United team this season and has so far made two assists in five Premier League games for the Red Devils.
However, Solskjaer seemed to suggest that the World Cup winner will miss the trip to St James’ Park this weekend due to his current injury problem.
Speaking at his pre-match news conference on Friday, Solskjaer said of Pogba when asked if he will be fit: “Paul? Probably not.
“There’s the international break to come and that might be the time to give them 10-14 days extra to get them ready for the Liverpool game.”
Pogba is yet to score a goal for the Red Devils this season despite making five appearances in total.
Manchester United head into the game looking to return to winning ways in the Premier League after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Arsenal at Old Trafford on Monday night.
The Red Devils are aiming to try and break back into the top four this season after having finished sixth and without a trophy last term.
