Bendtner, Ramsey & more: Twitter reacts to Arsenal’s Walcott injury blow
Nicklas Bendtner and Aaron Ramsey tweet their thoughts after Arsenal confirm Theo Walcott will be sidelined for six months

Theo Walcott will miss the rest of the season and the World Cup after Arsenal confirmed that the striker had suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury to his left knee.
The 24-year-old Gunners forward, who has scored five Premier League goals this season, suffered the injury during the second half of their 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup third round at Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
Here is a sample of the outpouring of sympathy for Walcott from the professionals, past and present, after the Gunners announced the England star’s injury blow.
Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong (@IAMFRIMPONG26) breaks the news: “Walcott out for 6 months.”
England and Tottenham legend Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) is disappointed that a potential key Three Lions player will miss the World Cup: “Aaaaargghh! Bloody hell. Theo Walcott out for 6 months, which will sadly rule him put of the World Cup. Real shame.”
Ex-Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann (@DietmarHamann) feels Arsene Wenger simply must buy a pacey forward in January: “If Walcott is out for 6 months Arsenal need to buy somebody with pace if they want to stay top. Not blessed with pace going forward.”
Celebrity Arsenal supporter Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) wishes the striker all the best: “Horrendous news about Theo Walcott – for him, Arsenal and England. Wishing him a full and speedy recovery
Former Southampton defender Danny Higginbotham (@Higginbotham05) has experience of the injury: “Gutted for Walcott but a cruciate injury these days no where near as bad as it used. Good luck on his recovery. A cruciate injury is a bad one and I know all about it but with the care and treatment he will get he will come back the same player.”
Arsenal legend Ian Wright (@IanWright0) hits back at Spurs supporters reveling in the Gunners’ misfortune: “Sums Spurs up rejoicing in the news of Theo! £105m spent on players, and it’s still an AFC player getting injured makes you happy. Sad.”
England rugby star and Gunners fan Ugo Monye (@ugomonye) wants to see Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain step up in the absence of Walcott: “Need the Ox to step up #Arsenal!”
Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey (@aaronramsey) backs Walcott to come back an even better player following the injury: “Gutted for Theo, he’ll come back stronger after this. Been fantastic for us so far this season. Have a speedy recovery mate.”
Everton midfielder Darron Gibson (@D_gibson4) is another former ACL casualty: “Just read the news that Theo Walcott has done his ACL, gutted for him! Would just like to wish him all the best!”
Ex-Gunners midfielder Ray Parlour (@RealRomfordPele) is in disbelief: “Massive shock Theo out for 6 months. Thoughts out to him missing 2nd part of the season and the World Cup. #nightmare”
Arsenal forward Nicklas Bendtner (@bendtnerb52) admits the Gunners will miss Walcott: “I am so sorry to hear about Theo’s injury. He will be a massive lost for the rest of the season. I wish him a speedy recovery and best of luck.”
Finally, Norwich goalkeeper John Ruddy (@Johnruddy86) wants to see Canaries team-mate Nathan Redmond seize his chance: “Gutted for Walcott missing the World Cup but what a chance for other players to step in! ( @NathanRedmond22 )”
