No wonder Cafu loves him! Liverpool legend hails Jon Flanagan
Liverpool legend John Aldridge heaps praise on Reds full-back Jon Flanagan after an impressive display against Spurs
John Aldridge says he isn’t surprised that Cafu is an admirer of Jon Flanagan after the Liverpool full-back’s impressive performance in a 4-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur.
The 21-year-old defender kept seasoned England international and Tottenham winger Aaron Lennon quiet in Sunday’s clash at Anfield, with the former Leeds man replaced in the 60th minute.
Flanagan turned creator for Liverpool’s third of the afternoon after his turn left Lennon for dead before teeing up Philippe Coutinho, who fired a low strike past Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.
The Brazil legend took to his Twitter account to praise Flanagan, dubbed the RedCafu, following the win.
Good to see the RedCafu is playing well! Liverpool amazing to watch!

And Aldridge isn’t surprised to learn the former AC Milan and Roma defender is an admirer of the latest product from Liverpool’s famed youth academy.
“No wonder Cafu loves him!” Aldrdige wrote in his Liverpool Echo column.
“The early own goal from Younes Kaboul set the tone for Liverpool’s win over Spurs, but Jon Flanagan epitomised just how up for it the Reds were.
“His two early challenges on Aaron Lennon – firm, but fair – let the Tottenham man know what kind of afternoon he was in for.
“Flanagan knows what it means to play for Liverpool. He’s a fan just like us, and what a time he is having.
“He wasted one pass all afternoon, and had the confidence to produce a Cruyff-turn in his own half for the third goal.”
