Olivier Giroud a shining light for Arsenal, claims ex-striker
Olivier Giroud's form has been a big positive for Arsenal this season, according to ex-striker Kevin Campbell
Olivier Giroud’s form has been one of the positives to come out of Arsenal’s mixed season, according to former Gunners striker Kevin Campbell.
The France international has been heavily relied upon by manager Arsene Wenger to lead the Gunners’ front-line this term following injuries to Arsenal’s only other two recognised strikers Yaya Sanogo and Nicklas Bendtner.
The 27-year-old took his tally for the season to 20 in all competitions on Tuesday night as he netted his side’s second goal in the 3-1 win over West Ham at Emirates Stadium.
He has had to lead the line himself for a lot of the season
And ex-Arsenal striker Campbell has been impressed by the forward’s form this season.
“Giroud has been a shining light for Arsenal this season,” said Campbell told talkSPORT.
“He has had to lead the line himself for a lot of the season and now he has scored 17, 18 goals.
“Getting in some goal-scoring help could have been the difference between Arsenal being in a challenging position for the title and having to fight for fourth place. Olivier Giroud couldn’t play the whole season on his own.”
