Samuel Eto’o scored a rare Premier League goal as Chelsea secured a 2-1 victory over Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.

Reds centre-half Martin Skrtel gave the visitors an early lead before goals from Eden Hazard and Eto’o sealed three points.

And here is our final Short and Tweet instalment of 2013 as the professionals, past and present, tweet their thoughts after Chelsea’s win.

Arsenal legend Ray Parlour ‏(@RealRomfordPele) reckons the Blues will triumph in Sunday’s late kick-off: “Gone for a Chelsea win at 4. Liverpool top side though. Expecting a Spurs win also! #lovefootball”

Former Manchester United defender Danny Higginbotham ‏(@Higginbotham0) disagrees with Parlour: “Fancy a @LFC win today against @chelseafc!”

Hull City midfielder David Meyler ‏(@DavidMeyler7) hails Hazard’s strike: “Beautiful finish by Hazard!”

Norwich City star Elliott Bennett ‏(@Ebenno88) is a huge fan of the Belgian: “Eden Hazard is on great finish. Love the way he plays the game.”

Ex-Chelsea midfielder Jody Morris (‏@morriskid) is happy to see Eto’o put the Blues in front: “Badooooof!!! It’s all the Chelsea.”

Former Liverpool striker Michael Owen ‏(@themichaelowen) feels the Reds are too open: “Looks like a shootout at Stamford Bridge. Great for the neutrals but Brendan Rodgers won’t be too happy with his defence.”

England legend Gary Lineker (‏@GaryLineker) can’t believe the Cameroon striker has netted: “You always know it’s the crazy season when a Chelsea striker scores. #Eto’o”

Rugby star Matt Dawson ‏(@matt9dawson) doesn’t approve of the half-time shirt swap: “My adversaries would have told me to “xxxx off” if I’d asked for his shirt at HT. That’s if I had the breath to ask him in the first place!”

Napoli goalkeeper Pepe Reina (‏@PReina25) hails a Mignolet save as he watches his parent club in action: “What a save!! #CFCvLPL go on reds!!”

Arsenal legend Ian Wright (‏@IanWright04) backs Mourinho’s decision to pick Willian over Juan Mata: “Very impressed with Willian today. Can see why Jose has picked him over Mata today!”

Reading striker Noel Hunt (‏@boyhunt) can’t believe referee Howard Webb didn’t award Suarez a penalty: “Wow Howard Webb pointing at the Challenge on Suarez from Etó and not doing anything about it!!! I just don’t get it!!”

Ex-Newcastle goalkeeper Shaka Hislop (‏@ShakaHislop) wonders if Liverpool will pay for their lack of squad depth: “With injuries mounting, do LFC have a deep enough squad, and if not, how dearly will it cost them?”

Former Liverpool striker Neil Mellor ‏(@NeilMellor33) analyses his old side’s results: “Two narrow defeats against rivals away from home but key decisions not going the correct way have cost Liverpool points over this festive period.”

Another member of the Liverpool family David Thompson (‏@77thomo) reckons the Reds are showing their inexperience: “I think Lfc a showing signs of class and inexperience at the same time! Away from home taking the lead Jose would have gone Catenaccio!”

Finally, Reds forward Adam Morgan ‏(@AMorgan94) is delighted for his youth team-mate: “Seen my man @bradsmith_94 made his debut today! Well done lad!”
