Paul Merson launches attack on Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger
Paul Merson brands Arsene Wenger as "arrogant" for keeping fans in the dark about his future

Paul Merson has branded Arsene Wenger as “arrogant” for keeping fans in the dark about his Arsenal future.
The Frenchman’s situation at The Emirates has been a relentless source of speculation in recent weeks following Arsenal’s dramatic slump in form.
The Gunners lost 3-1 to West Brom last weekend to leave their top-four hopes in tatters following their fourth loss in five top-flight games.
Wenger’s current Arsenal contract is due to expire in the summer and it remains to be seen whether the Frenchman will commit himself to another season in charge at The Emirates.
However, former Arsenal star Merson has not been at all impressed by Wenger’s whole approach to the situation.
Writing in his column for The Daily Star, Merson said: “Arsene Wenger is becoming too arrogant for his own good. Arsenal is a club with so many loyal supporters and he’s just doing what he wants and keeping everybody in the dark about his future.
“There’s a real arrogance about that. It feels like he is just mugging everybody off. And then he says talks are on hold with Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil because it might distract the team.
“What about his own future? It’s a bit hypocritical. It’s not just Sanchez and Ozil anyway. The other players haven’t shown any heart either. The last couple of performances have been bordering on pathetic.”
He added: “I think he’s waiting for a big win so he can do it then. But it should have been decided by now. It’s gone on too long and it’s hurting the club.”
