Paul Merson is tipping Liverpool to beat West Ham 3-1 in the Premier League at the Olympic Stadium on Saturday evening.

The Reds head into the game fresh from their 3-0 victory over Maribor in the Champions League on Wednesday night as they took another step towards the last 16 of Europe’s elite club competition.

Jurgen Klopp’s men were also 3-0 winners against Huddersfield Town in the Premier League at Anfield last weekend as the Reds got back to winning ways in the top flight.

Liverpool are aiming to string together a series of consistent results as the hectic festive period looms large.

And former Arsenal star Merson is backing the visitors to claim all three points in east London this weekend.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Merson said: “West Ham last week, seriously… Michail Antonio should be on the verge of getting a two-week fine for what he did. I honestly cannot believe what he done, it was unbelievable.

“I am going to go for Liverpool to win here. I just think they will have too much firepower for them defensively.

“So I am going to go 3-1, as how are Liverpool ever going to keep a clean sheet?!”

Liverpool finished in fourth place in the Premier League as they secured Champions League qualification last season.

However, they have made something of a stuttering start to the new season and they currently sit 12 points behind leaders Manchester City after 10 games of the new campaign.

Liverpool appointed Jurgen Klopp as their new manager back in October 2015 following the sacking of Brendan Rodgers but the German is yet to lead them to a trophy.
