Paul Merson tells Arsenal or Chelsea to sign this Premier League star

Paul Merson has told Arsenal and Chelsea that Romelu Lukaku would be the perfect signing for them this season.

The Everton striker’s situation has been a source of speculation in recent weeks and it remains unclear whether he is set to sign a new contract at Goodison Park.

There is bound to be plenty of speculation linking both Arsenal and Chelsea with a host of players this summer as the transfer window draws ever nearer.

However, former Arsenal star Merson feels that the Gunners and the Blues should look no further than Lukaku if they want to bolster their attacking line-ups ahead of next season.

Writing in his column for The Daily Star, Merson said: “I think his head has been turned by a bigger club and he wants to keep his options open.

“He’s right to do that. He’d fit in well at his old club Chelsea, or even Arsenal. He’s done very well at Everton but they get to a certain stage with players and then they leave.”

Arsenal are currently in sixth place in the Premier League table as they look to secure Champions League qualification for next season.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are flying high at the top of the table and are 10 points clear of second-placed Tottenham.
