Paul Pogba makes Man United admission about his performance level
The Manchester United star admits he needs to improve his performance after a 3-2 loss to Brighton
Paul Pogba was critical of his own performance after Manchester United’s 3-2 loss to Brighton on Sunday.
In the second game of the new season for the Red Devil’s they suffered a shock 3-2 defeat to Chris Hughton’s Brighton, after a dismal first half showing which saw them go in at the break two goals down.
Although Jose Mourinho’s men came back fighting in the second half, they were ultimately short on ideas going forward and could only manage to score a late consolation goal through Pogba via the penalty spot.
The French midfielder captained the side for the second consecutive game after impressing with the armband against Leicester just 10 days ago, but he failed to produce the same level of performance on Sunday afternoon.
Pogba told BBC Sport: “It’s definitely not good enough. We’ve lost twice in a row to Brighton and it shouldn’t happen. I should have done better, with fewer mistakes and more control of the game.”
Pogba then went on to address supporters directly, stating that he and the rest of the squad must ‘wake up’ ahead of United’s next fixture against Tottenham in a weeks’ time.
“We always play for the shirt and for the fans.” the 25-year-old continued.
“Today’s result is not what we or the fans wanted. The fans should be mad – we are. Today was a bad performance from all of us and we have to wake up for the next game.”
Pogba became a World Cup winner over the summer with France and is now in his third year back at Old Trafford since joining for his second spell at the club from Juventus in 2016.
