Pellegrini delivers latest Man City injury update ahead of Chelsea clash
Samir Nasri and Javi Garcia are both back available for Manchester City for the visit of Chelsea on Saturday
Samir Nasri and Javi Garcia are back available for selection ahead of Manchester City’s FA Cup showdown with Chelsea on Saturday, Manuel Pellegrini has confirmed.
Nasri has not featured since sustaining a knee injury against Newcastle United on 12 January, while Garcia has been sidelined for just under a month following the 3-0 win at West Ham United.
Nasri is a very important player, so it’s impossible not to miss him
Pellegrini is thrilled to have the duo back ahead of the fifth-round clash at Emirates Stadium, but confirmed that Matija Nastasić, Fernandinho and Sergio Aguero all remain sidelined.
“I think it’s very important that two of our players, Samir Nasri and Javi Garcia, are both fit for this game – it is very important for us,” declared Pellegrini.
“Nastasic, Fernandinho and Aguero however are not fit for this game.
“Nasri is a very important player, so it’s impossible not to miss him. But we’ve also had other injuries before Sami, with David Silva, Sergio Aguero or Jovetic or Kompany and we always managed to continue winning.
“I think in the last two weeks, maybe we have injuries in the same position and that was our major problem.”
