Sweden International claims Barcelona boss didn't motivate him during his time at Camp Nou
Former Barcelona striker Zlatan IbrahimoviÄ”¡ has launched a scathing attack on his old manager Pep Guardiola over his man management style.
The 29-year-old AC Milan forward, who is on loan at the Serie A club from Barcelona after having joined the Catalan Giants in 2009 from Inter Milan for €46m plus Samuel Eto’o, blames his former coach for his premature exit from Camp Nou.
“At Barcelona I understood how football and things can change so fast. My problem was one man, the ‘philosopher’ [Guardiola],” he told Eurosport.
“I never had any problems with anyone, there is no one who can say I did something wrong. The first six months [at Camp Nou] were excellent.
“But then something happened, even I don’t know what. I am still waiting for answers. If you don’t have someone to motivate you then you don’t want to fight, this is why there are coaches.”
IbrahimoviÄ”¡ drew comparisons between Guardiola and his former boss at Inter Jose Mourinho, who coached the Sweden international for one fruitful season in which he scored 29 goals in 46 appearances.
“I would have killed for Jose Mourinho, for the motivation he gave me and for how he used to stimulate me,” he continued.
“With the other [Guardiola] there was football, but a coach must adapt his play to suit the players, especially after spending €70m on one.”
