Petr Cech aims to make amends for Chelsea’s Super Cup humiliation
Petr Cech pleased to win the chance to help Chelsea make amends for last summer's Uefa Super Cup humiliation next season

Petr Cech has expressed his delight at winning the chance to help Chelsea make amends for last summer’s Uefa Super Cup humiliation at the hands of Atletico Madrid.
The Blues were torn apart by Radamel Falcao – who scored a first-half hat-trick – as they were beaten 4-1 by the La Liga side in last season’s clash in Monaco back in August.
Chelsea’s Europa League triumph last week ensured that the Blues will face either Bayern Munich or Borussia Dortmund in this year’s match, which is to be staged in Prague on 30 August.
And Cech, 31, is keen to help the Blues make up for the disappointment of last year’s loss this time around.
“I am really happy that we won the Europa League because this win gave us a ticket for the Super Cup in Prague which is even better because I will play at home,” Cech told Chelsea’s website.
“After the huge disappointment of last year’s Super Cup this is another important and positive thing, and the race for the third place was fantastic because it was up until the last minute.”
Cech was also pleased to see Chelsea secure a third-place finish and a direct route into next season’s Champions League group stage.
“Now the structure of our pre-season can be held the same way as it is prepared and this is a big help,” he added.
“Everybody will have enough rest to start to season and be fresh, and we don’t have to worry about this.”
