Chelsea’s Petr Cech: Man City are favourites and have an advantage
Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech says Manchester City have the luxury of focusing their energy on the Premier League

Petr Cech has reiterated that Manchester City are still favourites for the Premier League title.
Chelsea are currently seven points clear of second-placed Liverpool and nine points ahead of the Citizens, who have played three games less than the Blues.
The advantage with City is that they are out of the FA Cup so they have nothing more to play apart from the Premier League

But Chelsea goalkeeper Cech, who has won the Premier League three times with the west London side, reckons City have the advantage after being eliminated from the Champions League and FA Cup.
“They are the main title rivals and favourites and now even more when they have three games in hand if they manage to win those games then they will be ahead,” Cech told Sky Sports.
“The advantage with City is that they are out of the FA Cup so they have nothing more to play apart from the Premier League, so they can purely concentrate on that. Whereas we hope to progress to the Champions League and if you play it sometimes can be much harder.
“But the last three years we’ve been saving English football all the time – everyone got knocked out really early. We might be in the same situation again because let’s see how Man United may overcome their deficit but hopefully they will.”
Cech did admit that Chelsea have managed to gather momentum during the festive period and carried their good form into 2014.
“We’ve been doing really well and we’ve tried to carry the momentum from Christmas where we did really well,” Cech continued.
“Once you get in the mood and confident and the tranquillity of the momentum. You concentrate on the game and have no distractions and everything seems to keep going.”
