Petr Cech has hailed Frank Lampard as one of the most influential players of the Premier League era after the midfielder confirmed his Chelsea exit.

The 35-year-old star announced that he was calling time on a decorated 13-year spell with the Blues after failing to agree a new deal with the west London side.

The England international scored a club-record 211 goals in 648 appearances for the Blues, winning three Premier League titles, the Champions League and four FA Cups.

Lampard’s former England team-mate and Chelsea skipper John Terry also paid tribute to the long-serving Blues midfielder, who is reported to be on the verge of joining New York City FC.

“Lamps, I’m going to miss you on and off the pitch mate,” Terry said.

“The best midfielder I’ve had the honour of playing with, you’re a true Chelsea legend. You are a real winner and an inspiration to me and everyone at Chelsea. Good luck mate.”
