Phil Thompson: Liverpool will cope without Luis Suarez
Phil Thompson feels Liverpool will have no trouble coping with the loss of Luis Suárez to Barcelona this summer

Phil Thompson is convinced that Liverpool are “in good hands” and is backing the Reds to cope with the loss of Luis Suarez to Barcelona.
The Reds announced on Friday that they had agreed a deal to sell the striker to the Spanish club for a fee believed to be in the region of £75m.

Attentions will now turn to how Liverpool intend to replace a player who scored 31 goals in 33 Premier League games last season.
But former Liverpool defender Thompson is sure that the Merseyside club will be able to cope with his exit.
“I go back to watching Roger Hunt and Ian St John and then along came Kevin Keegan and along came Kenny Dalglish and along came Ian Rush,” Thompson told Sky Sports News.
“You were always worrying if there’ll be someone else, but sooner or later there is a superstar. Michael Owen and Robbie Fowler came along and then Fernando Torres and Luis Suarez.
“There have been great players and this football club will always move on anyway. Yes, it will be a loss without Suarez and his ability, but I’m quite sure we are in good hands as long as we spend the money right.”
